Astraea Technologies
Validating healthcare where failure is not an option.
Astraea Technologies is an Australian deep-technology company focused on safeguarding human health, performance, and survival in extreme environments.
As human activity expands into space, high-radiation zones, deep-sea environments, disaster-response contexts, and other harsh settings, the technologies humans rely on, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, materials, and life-support systems, are pushed beyond the limits of conventional testing.
Astraea exists to ensure those technologies do not fail when lives depend on them.

BUILT FOR DECISION-MAKERS
We deliver advanced validation platforms and analytical services that quantify how extreme environmental stressors, such as ionising radiation, temperature extremes, isolation, pressure, and constrained resupply, impact human-critical products.
Astraea seeks to work with pharmaceutical manufacturers, healthcare providers, defence organisations, space agencies, and mission operators who require evidence—not assumptions—when operating at the limits of survivability.
Our platforms are being designed to reduce uncertainty, support informed risk management, and enable confident deployment of human-critical technologies.
Our flagship platform: HIRO‑LAB
The Heavy Ionising Radiation Observation Laboratory (HIRO‑LAB) is Astraea’s inaugural analytical platform. Originally conceived to address one of space exploration’s most overlooked risks—the degradation of medicines under cosmic radiation—HIRO‑LAB has been deliberately designed as a modular, extensible system applicable across multiple industries.

SECTOR SOLUTIONS

Space & Aerospace
Human spaceflight and long-duration missions introduce compounded stressors including ionising radiation, isolation, constrained resupply, and extended storage timelines. Astraea will support space agencies, mission operators, and commercial partners by validating and optimising: - Radiation-tolerant pharmaceuticals and biologics - Medical kits for autonomous crew healthcare - Life-support consumables and packaging materials HIRO-LAB will enable space-relevant degradation analysis beyond low-Earth orbit assumptions, generating data suitable for mission-level decision-making and future certification pathways.

Healthcare & Nuclear Medicine
Pharmaceuticals and medical devices used in radiological environments are routinely exposed to ionising radiation, yet validation often stops at conventional stability testing. Astraea will provide: - Radiation-driven degradation analysis of medicines and materials - Dose-response profiling for radiation-exposed products - Data-driven optimisation strategies to improve safety, shelf life, and performance This capability is particularly relevant for oncology, nuclear medicine, and radiotherapy supply chains where degradation risk directly impacts patient outcomes.

Defence & National Security
Defence and national security operations demand medical and human-support technologies that perform reliably in austere/harsh, high-risk environments. Astraea will support: - Battlefield and expeditionary medical kits - Subsurface, nuclear-adjacent, and underground operations - Extended deployments with limited resupply HIRO-LAB will enable proactive identification of failure pathways before deployment, reducing operational risk and enhancing mission readiness.

Disaster Response & Remote Operations
In disaster zones and remote environments, replacement and resupply may be impossible. Astraea will help validate healthcare solutions for: - Emergency response kits - Remote and isolated communities - Harsh climatic and radiation-adjacent conditions Our data will ensure that critical supplies remain dependable when communities and responders need them most.

ASTRAEA VISION
At Astraea Technologies, we dream of a future where humanity can thrive anywhere—on Earth, in orbit, and far beyond. We’re on a mission to become a global source for space health data and a leader in pharmaceutical safety for space exploration. Through pioneering research into how cosmic radiation affects drug stability—starting with ibuprofen—and the development of HIRO-LAB, our innovative analysis tool, we aim to ensure medicines remain safe and effective on long-duration missions. Our work will support sustainable health solutions for space travel and unlock valuable insights for industries back on Earth. Because when we reach for the stars, our health should go with us.

Astraea origins
Inspired by Astraea, the ancient symbol of justice, integrity, and moral clarity, Astraea Technologies was founded on a simple but urgent belief: as humanity pushes into harsher and more unforgiving environments, the systems that protect human life must be designed with equal ambition and responsibility.
Modern pharmaceuticals and medical technologies are rigorously tested for terrestrial use—but rarely validated for the compounded stressors encountered beyond Earth or in extreme environments on our own planet. This blind spot represents a critical risk to human health, safety, and mission success.
Astraea strives to close that gap.
Founded by a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and technologists, Astraea is building the tools, data, and validation frameworks required to engineer resilience into healthcare and human‑support technologies from first principles.
